"A song for our time. Copland is a singer, composer, a _musical monk_ born in Philly now living for some time in Ontario. He transitioned in 2002, and was influenced deeply after experiencing the chanting of a Nichiren Buddhist community in LA in 1973…has practiced Buddhism since that time
Prince Nifty is one of the many project names deployed over the years by Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist Matt Smith whose mercurial arrangements have always called for explanation by creative writing. With his new album you’re in an Ethiopian restaurant; you’re with an ex you shouldn’t be talking to; the last shreds of injera have been cleared and a solo performer on a wedge of a corner stage turns on a DX7. A cracked speaker powers up. - bandcamp
PANXING is the moniker of Copenhagen-based artist Pernille Zidore Nygaard. The album title deals with this blurring or dissolving of time pivotal for the music’s process of becoming. The piano is a recurring element for Panxing and has been the starting point for her composing... sometimes played, sometimes programmed and always the closest companion to the journeys of the voice.
"African American Sacred Harp singing conventions in southeastern Alabama began near the last third of the 19th century. While singing, for the most part, the same repertory of Sacred Harp music as their Anglo American counterparts, a vocal stylistic difference is clearly apparent. The singing style takes its name from the The Sacred Harp, first published in Philadelphia by B. F. White and E. J. King. The musical style, however, predates the publication of the book. The itinerant singing-school master was a common phenomenon in colonial New England, and various masters competed in their efforts to devise an instructional system where congregations could be taught to sing _by note._"
"The Entourage Music and Theater Ensemble was an ambient music group. The group was active from 1970 to 1983 and performed in theaters in combination with dance ensembles. The primary members were founder and director Joe Clark on saxophones and keyboards; Rusti Clark (no relation) on viola and guitar; Michael S. Smith on drums and percussion; and Wall Matthews on guitars, keyboards, and percussion. Entourage formed in Baltimore, Maryland in the early-1970s, relocated to Millbrook, New York, then moved to New London, Connecticut in the mid-1970s and finally re-settled in the Baltimore, Maryland area. The group disbanded after the death of Joe Clark in 1983. Rusti Clark died in 1986, and Michael Smith in 2006. - wiki"
"Jane Lancaster (born 1963) was a British singer, who teamed up with at that time her boyfriend, Edward Burton to compose the song, It's A Fine Day. The track gained interest from the Red Cherry label, who released it as a single. An album followed on, with credits going to Jane And Burton. After that she made some records before later going into acting, including appearances on Coronation Street, before finally becoming a fitness instructor. John Peel picked up her song Its a Fine day, and it eventually became source for many other artists sampling. "
"A.C. Marias was the name under which Wire collaborator Angela Conway released an album and several singles during the 1980s. (London based Wire are considered a definitive art punk and post-punk band, due to their richly detailed and atmospheric sound and obscure lyrical themes)"
"Turner discovered Buddhism and began practicing this chant which, she says, helped her tap into and increase the innate strength that has helped her through tremedous hardships throughout her life. The tradition of chanting this text is to change your karmic destiny...to take destiny into your own hands and unlock your highest potential. It is considered very powerful, and the full track to Turners chanting is 2 hours long (see link). "
"Ethiopian artist Sosena Gebre Eyesus plays the begena or harp of David. The album is comprised of Ethiopian orthodox hymns, softly sung over the low beautiful buzzing unique sound of the begena. Originally released on cassette. - bandcamp"
Hiroshimi based Meitei sets out to recapture a “lost Japanese mood.” Kofu, the third in a trilogy, is an album of stories, after all, and a number of tracks are named after specific people, documenting a variety of subjects and moods.

"Although he died some thirty years ago, Edden Hammons has not been forgotten. He is considered by many to have been one of the finest traditional West Virginia fiddlers of all time, and tales of his musical exploits and eccentric lifestyle flourish among the inhabitants of mountainous east central West Virginian, where he lived from about 1874 to 1955. 'Queen of the Earth and Child of the Skies' is one of the few slower, crosstuned and slightly 'crooked' pieces of the 51 that Hammons recorded for Chappell, over three recording sessions. Alan Jabbour (in his 1984 notes to the Edden Hammons Collection, vol. 1) identifies the melody as a piece called _The Blackbird,_ one of the most famous and enduring airs in the British Isles. Several versions were collected in south-western Pennsylvania, but with the generally agreed upon function was that the tune was a _dead march,_ i.e. one to be played at funerals. How it came to be known by Hammons, and how it acquired the title he knew it by, is a mystery. - youtube notes by AlvisaMinidoruv & John Cuthbert *see link"
In 1973 Van Morrison and the Caledonia Soul Orchestra went on a three-month tour of the United States and Europe, the result of which was the live double album It's Too Late to Stop Now. The title is taken from the last line in the lyrics of one of Morrison's songs, "Into the Mystic" from the 1970 Moondance album. In live performances with the Caledonia Soul Orchestra, he would close the concert with a lengthened version of the Astral Weeks song "Cyprus Avenue" and then shout out "It's too late to stop now!" as he exited the stage. With his eleven-piece band, The Caledonia Soul Orchestra, which included a horn and string section, he has often been said to have been at his live performing peak. _He wasn't looking to repeat himself. He wanted to create a new show every night._ said Jef Labes Van was changing his phrasing with each performance and would be directing the band with hand gestures onstage.- wiki
