Very early Sly Stone. // * - This looks like some early 1960's unreleased recordings pressed up on a single because of Sly & the Family Stone's success. // * - Also known as The 'Viscaynes', Sylvester Stewart's first recorded group
Barbara Dane (born 'Barbara Jean Spillman') died October 20th, 2024, at age 97. // * - on her 'Fifth Album' album (Elektra) // ** - Oddly, although Reynolds co-wrote this, she didn't record it herself till 1969 (Cassandra Records), after this and several other people recorded it. / Click on the Link above, to view the original album.

* The Sonics' recording was probably based on Paul Revere And The Raiders version, which was released in March of 1964, as the B-side of their second CBS single, ' Louie - Go Home'. Though they had no national hits yet, Paul Revere And The Raiders were very popular live in the Pacific Northwest. // Sonics were From Takoma, WA - not Seattle!

Bob Bennett, "The Mighty Mite", drummer for The Sonics, died Jan 30th, at age ?? eighty-something ??. He was with them from 1963 (well before Jerry Roslie joined ...) till the original group gradually broke up in 1967/ 1968 {they continued for a while after with a new singer, Jim Brady}. Recorded originally to replace the original B-side of 'The Witch', a Little Richard cover of " Keep A Knockin', which they didn't have the publishing rights to. ... Due to much airplay, 'Psycho' was later issued as the A-side. FOUR BEST SCREAMS EVER at the very end!! // ... From a Youtube comment, credit "@aljustal6554": "Psycho" is pretty much the ultimate 60's frat-rock melt down. A three chord stomp featuring Gerry Rosalie's throat-shredding, out-of-his-gourd vocals, Larry Parypa's killer, needles-in-the-red, Chuck-Berry-derived guitar solo, and BOB "Boom Boom' BENNETT's scorching, lo-fi drum breaks and beats. ... ... . All this in very brisk 2 minutes, 15" // Click on the Link above, left to read a short article on them.
