David Charles Olney was a folk/country singer/songwriter, based in Nashville since 1973. In the early 1980s, he formed "The X-Rays", and recorded two albums for Rounder; they appeared on "Austin City Limits", opened for major acts (Elvis Costello), and broke up in 1985. He recorded more than 20 albums over his five-decade career, and his songs have been performed by many artists, including Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Linda Ronstadt, Steve Young and Del McCoury. He died January 18, 2020 in Santa Rosa Beach, FL, while playing a song onstage at the "30A Songwriter Festival".
